Happy St Patricks Day... indeed!

Yesterday I had a meeting with the director of the QCC Art Gallery. While I was getting ready for my meeting I became very nervous. This was a very important meeting for me. As you know I've been putting all my energy into my I AMazon collection and I have gained the interest of the assistant director of this particular gallery. This meeting was a make or break moment. I had just completed my Amazon Shield II and planned to take that with me to show. The director had seen my website and had expressed interest in my work.

Well of course it rains...it always rains when I have to travel with artwork. Last week I have attend an opening at this gallery and it had rained that night as well. The director joked with me and told me that I brought the rain. My reply? Well I said that rain is a sign of fertility and this means only good things to come. I planted the seed, the sky had water it...and Come May 19th I have a gallery opening!!!

I have a new piece to include in this collection, a full lenght gown of chain mail. As you can see below my painting titled Persecution. That will be created 3 dimensionally. Well I'll keep you posted about my work as it develops. As for now I must hit up the armory!

WIP Persecution

I have been working very hard some new I AMazon pieces. I have just finished a pair of arm bands, they look great on! It is such a change of pace for me to create wearable art. My studio is slowing becoming less of an artist's space and more of an arms and armoury. I want the work to look and feel like it can be used in battle. That they have a weight and seem believable.

I have been putting a lot of energy into a large scale painting titled Persecution. I can honestly say that creating chain mail is much less tedious than drawing it! My goal is to finish the chain mail rendering in the next few days... The arms are a very important aspect to this painting...they are a little large and out of proportion. This was done on purpose because of the symbolic meaning to hands. I have been developing an obsession/appreciation for hands. They have the power to heal, hurt, create, destroy, love, help, nourish, act, and so. The arms are so powerful and they are open in my painting to receive. I will post the sketch to this painting tomorrow to show you the direction of where this painting is headed...

A Magical Christmas!

Tonight I drove my son around the neighborhood to see all the decorated houses. After a few houses he quietly fell asleep. He looked like a little angel all bundled up in his car seat with the twinkling lights reflecting onto his sweet face. Having a two year old little boy has changed the holidays for me and has brought me a need to begin new traditions and has sparked a new magic.

Returning home, I tucked my son into bed. He was so snug in his Christmas pjs! I then proceeded to the kitchen to begin the wrapping of the presents. Thanks to a secret Santa (you know who you are ;), this Christmas will be very special. I have been very fortunate to have received a small Christmas miracle of my own. As I wrapped his presents I began to think about my Christmas’s as a child.
It’s a day of such excitement and it is the holiday that trumps all other holidays. The pile of presents seemed endless and filled with the possibility of fantasy. The toys, days of from school and special dinners made the holiday so magical. Fantasy and make believed fueled the imagination for hours and into days. Worlds were created with twisting plot lines and inventive characters. I realize now, more than ever how important it is for me to foster my son’s imagination, excitement, and sense of wonderment. I hope to give my son an environment to unleash and cultivate his creativity.

I cannot wait to see the look of joy on his face when he sees the multitude of presents that have magically appeared under the Christmas tree. Then after he has opened them all and believes that there are no more presents to unwrap…..that is when I reveal the motorized Thomas the Tank engine. I made sure to put the stickers on and charged overnight, so that it will be ready to ride in the morning! That will be the gift that trumps all other gifts, the gift to stir excitement and play.

His smile is my gift.

Little colored jars all lined up in a row

Last night I had finally stepped into the Yegam Art Gallery. When I had first saw it opened I was so excited. To see an art gallery, fitted for Chelsea, right here in Bayside Queens was quite a shock and for me a welcomed concept. I had always desired to have the art community drum up a stronger heart beat in Queens. A gallery in walking distance is a true luxury!

There was a group exhibition currently on display. Each artist was very different from one another. The concept for the show was black and white to color. The theme gave way to a big bang color theory, an evolution of the hue. Each artist had a very different take on this concept. The work ranged from sculptural, photographic and 2d paintings.

I was most taken with a 3D work of a (plexi ?) glass case, which housed very tiny glass bottles with colored gels. The tiny bottles were perhaps only an inch tall. There were two glass cases; one had bright cool colored gels and the second more muted and warmer colors. I don’t know what it is about glass, however I cannot help but to be attracted to it. Perhaps because I use glass jars when painting and I save all class containers to be reused for food storage. There is something to be desire, the translucency and gloss finish. The ability to tuck something away inside of a glass container and still be able to see exactly was the glass is hiding. The work is titled Life Story, by Eun Jung Park, so the title can influence the meaning of the work. If each tiny glass jar represents the self, then the colors may represent the emotions of the self and that particular day. Colors and combinations are repeated, just like emotions and even the daily routines which we keep. Perhaps these emotions, stories, secrets are “bottled up”, only being re-lived by the self each day. A beautiful piece with excellent execution. I cannot help but want to have just one of those tiny bottles.

Holiday Commission Completed!

Last night I had completed twin paintings for a client. I had to paint two identical paintings that would be given as a holiday present. As I was putting the finishing touches on the paintings, I really felt proud of my work. The paintings look like replicas. I was very patient and worked diligently to make the images right. I did not look for short cuts or tricks. I am pleased in my performance. It took many hours to render and in this experience I have learned a lot about my painting process.

I believe that Photoshop has truly helped me become a better painter. I have worked in Photoshop for about 10 years. The same methods which I use in Photoshop, I use in traditional mediums. A good painting cannot be created in the absence of a good drawing. Taking time to perfect the drawing, proportions, shadows and highlights will make the painting much easier. Then I create a tonal wash to cover my drawing. I never work on a white surface. I work background to foreground, to build up the space. Create values of the skin, before color. Using glazing techniques, I was able to transform colors, creating new color values, flesh tones and drapery effect. I paint with the concept of layers in my mind. However precision must be maintained. There is no multiple undo action in traditional medium!

The paintings were a success in my own eyes, and I hope that the client will be very pleased to receive the gifts.

New Canvas, New Year

Hey guys... I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season. I've been quite worn out. Got sick this past week and it really took a toll on my energy level. I am starting to feel a little better and I have a lot to do! I have some holiday commissions to paint. I was working on a heavy weight paper that LIED to me. It said that it was strong enough to handle acrylic, however that was a liiiiiiiiie. The paper warped and I decided to head out and purchase a canvas board...basically start over. It is important to realize that if a method isnt working, look for another alternative. Especially if you are on a deadline. I'm not crazy about canvas board because of the the texture, however for this particular commission It should work to my favor.

My sweetheart took me to the art store and later surprised me when I was there. There was a fantastic sale on gallery wrapped canvases at a deep discount of 50%. So hit up Micheal's if you need canvas! Well he purchased this massive canvas that I was eying for my next I AMazon piece. The canvas is 36 by 48 inches. I know exactly what I am going to create. New art supplies always make me feel better! I cannot wait to finish my holiday commissions and start on the next I AMazon piece.

I am really excited about the new year. Next year has a lot of great things in store for me. I am not going to reveal them here...but expect great things! Perseverance is key to success. I refuse to give on my dreams and my dreams are started to become tangible. I am very happy...now I need is to return to 100% health. I'm about 85%.

CTS Art experience...

So last Friday night I had attended the CTS fundraiser. It was so amazing. So many people came out to support the event. I met many cool people and was able to reconnect with some old friends.

I would have to say that the highlight of the evening was being able to connect people through a collaborative art process. I began the evening setting up a large canvas and planning an image. I began to ink out some figures, keeping it open for interpretation. As people came, by they struck up conversation about the art, what I should add, and I had invited them to create with me.

There were so many brave people joining me in the process. I was so excited to see everyone else get excited about putting his or her spin on the painting. I hoped that I was able to give these people a creative outlet for the night… not many people get a chance to create art and not many people are exposed to it in their everyday lives. I cannot help but to enjoy watching them create.

It was an experience, which I would love to have again. It really kept me in high spirits to connect with people about art in a way that I do in a classroom. I felt as though I was the teacher (again!) facilitating and cultivating an art experience. If you are reading this and participated in the event, please share with me your experience!

What’s up! you Amazon Lover!

The 20$Holler show was a success last night in thanks to everyone who had attended! In fact the show did so well, that Crash Mansion would like to invite the artists back on a regular basis! Last night was a lot of fun and I got to spend it with great people. I was able to reconnect with people whom I have not seen in years! And I had also met some new faces. Thanks to everyone who supported the Art and the Event. Special thanks to Krista for coordinating the gallery show and Mary the photographer for the evening. Remember that if you did not get to come out and spend some quality time with me, you can still pop in to see the artwork till October 24th. As of today I do not have intentions to show this work again.
I’m excited to see the photos from last night. As soon as I get them, I will make them available online and let you know where you may view them. The owners of the place were super nice and my rep is in the works of negotiating an live showcase with them. The space is limited so I will be creating with only two other artists.
Speaking of live showcases! Don’t forget that I will be performing this coming Tuesday at Crash Mansion (Oct 5th). I will be creating more artwork for my I AMazon series. I was working on the concept paintings for 2 more paintings this morning. I am really excited about this coming Tuesday. So many amazing/talented people are going to be there. The energy is going to be high! Visual artists combined with musicians….hmmm explosive combination. I cant wait to see you there ;)

Upcoming events! Gallery Opening and a live art showcase

I hope you have been doing well and had a great summer! I?ve been keeping busy with my art and have added some new additions to the Amazon Collection. Although its been a quiet summer, things are about to get a little crazy! I have a lot of events coming up so listen up!

The first I want to tell you about is the group expo at G2. I will have 4 pieces of art up for a month. Opening night is Thursday September 30 @ 7pm and runs till October 24. The work will be available for purchase, interested you know where to find me! So the address for this gallery is; G2 Sushi Restaurant-Gallery-Lounge Located on 103 Avenue A Between 6th&7th NYC, 10009.The artwork will be new Amazon pieces, which cannot be seen online, and the original that started this crazy series!

Ok next event! I will attending the Twenty Dollar Hollar showcase at Crash Mansion. This is a one night event were I will be creating artwork live while bands perform. Other fantastic artists will be creating live as well. These amazing people are Johnathan Wolloch, Sara Lauth, Kasey Schweickert, Teresa Bologna, Janine Intervallo, Nils Hasche and Phil Young. Recognize the names? Members of the site! Sweet.. We will have work available for purchase for only $20, Hollaaaaaaaa! LOL love it! This event will be so much fun and such great energy flowing through the night. There is a door fee of $5, and make sure that you tell the cashier that your attending for the $20 Hollar. This image is a sketch for a 3D piece that I'm working on this summer. Continuing with my amazon collection, I am now focusing on the pregnant amazon. She will be of life size proportions and I will be combining materials which I have new worked with before. I am very excited about this piece, there are many challenges to it's construction. I am also happy to announce that it will be shown in an SVA Gallery this July. Opening night will be July 9.

As I stood tonight in Maxine Greene’s kitchen, washing her dishes reflecting on her words of the impermanent, I could not help but think how this is the ending of my brutal year at SVA . Nothing lasts forever and ever situation will end. This year had seemed to have passed by in a blink of an eye, but it truly was an intense journey. Many classmates turned and looked at me and said “I don’t know how you did it.” All I could say was, “I don’t know either.”

I remember my own footing when I first entered into this program. I was coming out of a negative situation and was forced to make serious changes in my life and figure out my next step. Talk about identity issues, I was lost! I suddenly found myself as a single mother with no career path. Who was I? Where was I going? I did not recognize myself in the mirror in those days.

Two weeks later, we had all sat in a circle and introduced ourselves. Along with that was a physical gesture to represent ourselves, not realizing that it was a clue into our personalities. I still remember mine. A fist in the air, I had fought my entire life to get where I am today. I had fought for my son, my education, my emotions, and fought through my identity issues.

Through the tears, victories and long hrs of travel, we had made it through. This journey was exhausting and many times I had thought of giving up, that I was insane for electing this program. I learn pure survival and through that…I found myself again. I know that woman in the mirror now. She is not the strange girl that I once saw looking back at me. I like who I see, who I am(I AM AMAZON lol).

I am so blessed to have met you all at this incredible difficult time in my life. I could have not done it without all of you, you have all saved me in a small way. Like Maxine was saying tonight about what it really means to be alive, to make sense of the dark and ugliness of life. It does not have to be an ugly thing; this life is constantly in transit. My ugly/dark time had to happen and it forced me to make the right choice to enrich my life in ways I did not foresee. I am wide awake to the possibility of change and invention.

After looking at this piece for a while I have realized that it is not my original vision. This image has become to much like a fashion illustration rather than a piece of impact. I think the eyes need to be completely taken out to connote a feeling that she could be anyone, she could be you. I worked out a possible solution on the train this afternoon. The eyes were also too distracting.. the image is about the headpiece not who she is as an individual. Its the representation of the concept

So I have been to MOMA's Tim Burton show 3 times now! It truly was a fantastic show, even my son loves it! Oh he is so very cultured at his young age! I was surprised to see certain artworks and props there. I loved seeing his Catwoman drawings and the actual suit. The whole costume section smell like sweat lol. It was some nasty funk! My favorite image was a storyboard from Nightmare before Christmas... Jack is running towards a hill of slender barren trees with small pumpkins on the ground. In the sky there is a full yellow moon with an orange pumpkin face overlapped. I was also surprised to see that his older drawings have touches of Picasso in them. I think I need to see this show at least one more time before it is removed from the MOMA.

Of course I was seriously inspired by this exhibit and on the train ride home this last Friday I began to create some sketches. I have a series in mind... salon style! I miss working in a large format and with mixed media. I grabbed some canvas last night and starting laying down the framework. Well here is it!

Well today is the cheesy, hallmark created day of spending all your cash to prove your love... ::puke:: This is a day that I usually hate because it is so phony. It is very similar to Christmas, the one time of year where everyone is extra nice to one another. Both holidays place pressure to overspend on stupid meaningless gifts. Would you really buy that gift for the the person you love if it wasn't mandated to do so? Think about it.

Instead today I think we should place a shift in our hearts. Lets love the ones that give us evil. Let us understand others' choices and not give hate what it craves. Smile at the driver who gives you the finger, pity the person who gives into negativity and hug the person who is empty on the inside. If everyone truly had love in their thoughts then we would not need a Valentines Day.

Last Friday I got a chance to visit the Met. Its been maybe 2 years or so since I've been. I used to take trips there all the time. It is such a magical place that has the power to relax and give peace. I arrived much earlier to class so that I could visit my favorite section...The Temple of Dendur. It never fails me. Each time I see it, It transports me. I like to sit before it and pretend that it is mine, that I am in Egypt. I took out my sketchbook and captured the Temple.

Last night I went to see Avatar. Well I didn’t just SEE it, I experienced it in IMAX 3D. It is the perfect movie to see in IMAX 3D. It touched on so many real life issues and draws the viewer in by the nature of 3D and the first person camera angles (brilliant!). The IMAX 3D makes the film’s message so much more powerful because you are now in the film. Well of course the movie is visually stunning, in the way that only Weta can create and it follows the typical reluctant hero’s journey with predicable outcomes. Watch the movie and you re-examine war, and the word “savage.“ Remember the plight of the Native Americans, my ancestors, and rethink what the word savage really means.

Then comes the word Avatar. A word that we are all familiar by our personal experiences. Jake (the main character) is an ex-marine who becomes so immersed into his avatar, because it is offering him what he doesn’t have in real life. Jake lost his legs and as the Avatar he is able to reclaim who he really is, a warrior. The funny thing about this is that Jake is experiencing a alternate reality as his avatar…but the world he is experiencing is a real world. His meat body can experience the world just the same as this alternate body.

I think that the true message behind this film is the concept of the digital self. As the human race becomes more and more alienated from nature, we become more and more alone and disconnected. The digital world is very seductive as it pulls you into the illusion of being connected to others and creating your avatar, your digital self. Humans are desperate to feel connected, to one another, to something greater than ourselves. Now we can design who we want to be, who we are in the digital realm is want we may not be in the real world. It is a chance to have the life that we not born into and feel that we deserve. In the end Jake trades in his useless body for his avatar’s. He is able to completely submerged into his new culture and live with his new family and love.

I can’t help but think of someone that I used to know while watching this film. As Jake gets deeper and deeper into his new world, I can see how seductive it is to fall for another reality. His addiction to the avatar life is what drives him. He betrays his original life for the alternate one. Like Jake’s broken legs so are the dreams of many and the fix may be in the digital world. Jake’s true and brave heart is what makes him able to transform his gray world and trade it for the new neon, vivid landscape. In reality you are not Jake, transformation occurs only if you work for it. How badly do you desire a better existence? Or do you have to be the “chosen one”? Or do you just give up and settle for what you have? I ask you these questions about your own reality. I know where I fall in these questions. I am not going to deny that this film has broke me down and hit me very close to my heart. I came home and cried for my own “broken legs.“ However my legs are not broken and I know that my heart is just as strong as Jake’s.

Lately I've been turned on to abstract art and it is a totally new thing for me. I have been exposed to my fellow classmates art. They are all so talented and so individualized. I have always been focused on the sense of realism that I can achieve artistically. Concept is also very important to my work, the meaning behind the image. In essence the purest form of concept is the freedom of flow unleashed in an abstract painting. I never really got that, until this weekend.

I created a series of marker drawings this past weekend. They are full of my unreleased emotions. I have been dealing with some internal struggles that never get revealed in my day to day life. Like most people, I slap a smile on my face and do what I need to get done. I allowed my pent up feelings to be exposed. They regurgitated themselves in a frantic and spastic way. When I was finished I had hung them upon the wall of my studio. I had never been so uncomfortable staring at a collection of my work before. I created the images, so why do they frighten me? The energy emanating from the wall of art was so negative and scary. That came from me? I was so uncomfortable that my eyes would advert to the other walls, to the floor. I had to shut the lights and leave the room. There was nothing representational about it, but those pieces are identical to what I am going though. No photograph or painting could serve as a better self portrait.

The Symposium at the MET

Last Friday I had attended a symposium at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. As an “art educator in training” I felt that it was important that I attend this meeting. The room was filled with important people with impressive resumes. I have to say that I felt a little out of place, as if I was crashing this fancy party and I’m wearing jeans and sneakers. The president of my school, David Rhodes was one of the key note speakers, and the head of my department Rose, who is also the co-president of this association was there. Some other SVA teachers were there and a few of my fellow classmates.

Each speaker was more fascinating than the next. I found Robert’s research on the NCLB legislation and its impacts on the Arts to be very interesting. I was fully aware about how much teachers hated the act, and now there is so much information against it. The NCLB had a large negative effect on the arts education. Morale on teachers had dropped and they seemed o be weighted down by assessments. Class time and schedules were cut due to the now heavy importance on academic accountability. Students had to improve test scores and teachers became accountable for their passing grades. Of course because the arts are NOT considered a core subject, students were pulled from classes to receive extra prep time in math and sciences. Paperwork for teachers has increase and cut into the class time. Of course with new emphasis places on core subjects, the budget would reflect that with money thrown in that direction and cuts for the arts programs.

New focus of standards has made the system blind to what the children actually need. Students are being crammed information and are focused to spit it out on cue. After the test is completed the student will never know what he/she got wrong and why they failed. The student has now lost a chance to learn and grow. These tests are not for the child’s sake but for the sake of the writers of these exams. The child is neglected by the very same people who hold the child’s “best interest at heart.” Children need art to learn and explore about the world they live in. Teachers need creativity as well. The more I learn about the system, the more it feels like a dictatorship. Between rubrics, assessments, flow chart and so on, where is the fun of teaching? Remember that Fun is the child’s MAIN MOTIVATION. So why are you taking that away? Don’t you want the child to succeed and pass your stupid little scantron tests? Who is behind these laws! Where they EVER teaching in a classroom? I seriously doubt it. Children are our future and it is up to us to shape them for success, and so far….the system has failed, not the child

When I get my masters degree next summer, I plan to help stir the pot. Our school system is becoming (or already is) corrupt and I will not stand quietly as I watch the children float on by. I will continue to keep myself informed and do all that I can to help better the system. I’m a small girl with big dream, huh?

I am part of the next generation of art educators and I need to be well armed.

Damn I'm tired...no EXHAUSTED. I've just completed the sketch for painting...for a contest! WINNER gets some cool stuff...what I'm interested in is being the cover artist for a magazine and get the top spot of CA's featured artists. Plus the new wacom tabby...mine is too small for my sexy 22inch flat screen. Drool much? Well the concept of the contest is bringing something to life. Of course I think of my son! and the whole childbirth thing..but come on...i didn't even want to see that! So I'm thinking and thinking...about breeding urki, robots and artificial life...and I think about bringing my drawings to life! Something every artist has thought of right? I mean come on! That's the whole basis of animation! So here is my take...designing away into the late hours of the night, creating that *dream* man...wishing he would POP out the page...wearing metal, weapon in hand and oh look, he's even got a rose! is he a lover or a fighter? Only I will know....BECAUSE I MADE HIM! ooooohhh snap..

The Horror Institute Recap

Hello Hello....

Well as you know, yesterday I was showcasing my artwork at the Flushing Library. I met a lot of different artists and writers...and a weirdo in that Halloween costume. Nonetheless, it felt good to be back out there sharing with other artists and meeting people in my community. I've been so caught up with be a wife/mommy/chef/teacher bla blaaaah blaa, the list goes on! I sometimes forget that I am still an artist as well.
OH god, unfortunately the sci fi ninja theater people caught me! lol So look for my interview on there upcoming show. The show can only be seen in Queens on channel 34 or 56. Very scary stuff people..
Well I've been inspired to continue to work on my portfolio and really finish up writing The Black Forest. I'm a good 20 pages away from finishing the story up and the art is always evolving. I'm thinking about maybe self publishing it....not sure yet. well I did have some artwork for sale...

these are prints 4x6. They will be up on the website for sale in the next day or two.

In between networking and observing, I managed to drawing a little something something. I am going to continue to work on her, she is a cute little Seame who visited me unexpectedly. She is a very curious creature!

I just found out today that the sci-fi ninja theater will be filming the event along with other film makers. The ninja theater is a show on a public access channel in Queens. Not sure if its in the other boroughs.

Spent another weekend in my PA studio...very productive! I finished my paintings of Leonardo and the Sun Goddess. I also bought some furniture for my studio. I visited an antique place and found a very cool china cabinate from the 1930's and an old trunk that was used on ships...maybe pirates? arrrrrrghhh! I do find myself wondering if it ever was used by pirates, or where has this trunk been...or who has been inside of it!
Next weekend the furniture pieces will be delivered and I will post up some images of my studio, but for now you'll just have to take a look at my recent paintings...

Back to the Black Forest! After spending a week in my PA studio, I come back to NY bearing pics of my artistic adventure back into the forest. These are works in progress of two of the main characters, Leonardo and The Sun Goddess. Leonardo is just about done and more work needs to be done on the Sun Goddess. Hey guys! This saturday I'm going to be taking part at The Image of Music Show @ The Crash Mansion, March 29th. Its a great concept that combines live bands with live art. I will be one of the artists creating that night. Its $12 and the show starts at 6:30pm. There is an open bar,after midnight till closing. Its an amazing event that to brings all creative people together, and get inspired. I hope you will take part in this amazing event. I will be selling my work that night, originals and reproductions. People who will be there will get a chance to take a peek at my travel series, The Pastecchi Travel Logs. Last Friday my best friend, Eimi and I took a trip with the Society of Illustrators. We were headed to the Frank Frazetta Museum. I had not seen Eimi in such a loooong time. As I walked through that Great Red door I saw her smiling at me, we knew that today would be amazing. The SOL provided us with a beautiful breakfast. The senior show was up and I must say that it was 100 times more impressive than last year's work. I mingled with some of the the fellow Illustrators there, while me and Eimi tried to tone down our excitement. It was impossible. We were about to visit the private Estate and see a massive collection of paintings from the Godfather of Fantasy Illustration!! Yes we were all buzzing with excitement.
After what seemed like forever, we had finally arrived in PA. Walking the grounds of his estate... this is a Illustrator to aspire to! Its so quiet and peaceful here. There is even a lake(man-made?), pool and 3 houses on the property.
Walking through the doors....nothing but Frazetta. Wall to wall...over 60 images of mind blowing work. I've only seen a Frazetta in person once before in my life, back at the SOL. It wasn't the strongest piece in his arsenal. I couldn't choose a favorite because they are all amazing. I tried to study the images, learn something of color and composition. I love his use of lighting and how he directs your eyes in some of them. Shortly there, Ellie Frazetta, Frankie's wife came out and spoke to us. She welcomed us and told us about Frank's current condition. He had recently suffered a stroke and lost all feeling on his right side...you know what that means :( However to her own amazement she came home one day and went to see him in his studio, what she discovered in that room made her scream. Frank had completed a new painting using his left hand. Then he painted 2 more! The paintings..of course are very different from the rest of the work. The use of color and mood has definitely lighted up considerably. Although he has no feeling on his right side, he is now walking. And walked he did...right into our presence!

I actually got chills!!!! weird huh? Eimi and I spoke with him a bit and grabbed a photo with him. He is so freaking Italian! Some idiot was like.."ughhh when you start a painting do you put a wash down first?" Frank gave me and Eimi this "you believe this fucking guy!" look. I said "he just PAINTS it". It must be so annoying to get the same boneheaded questions over and OVER again. We thanked Frank for his time and left him to be swallowed up by the masses.

I purchased a few mini posters(which could NEVER i repeat NEVER do justice to the original work!!!). There, Eimi and I were bsing with Ellie, who is a sweet and wonderful woman. She told us that when she met Frank he would show off his work and then she put her paint brush down and never picked it up again. I thought that was kinda sad. She also told us which painting was a anniversary gift and the story behind it. We had hugged goodbye and I had gave her my card before I had left. This is the best day that I've had all year!

On our way out we had overhead that Ellie is planning to expand the museum to include other Illustrators. Now that is an exciting development! Of course I will fantasize about that concept. On the way back to NY Eimi and I feel asleep, worn out from all the excitement. Somewhere between sleeping and dreaming...I suddenly awoke. All of a sudden everything made sense. All of the things that I've been struggling with these past few months and the experience of today...it just fit into place. I quickly grabbed my ready sketchbook and abused it with inks...It begins now

Hey guys this up-and-coming Saturday the 24th, I will be participating at a charity event, Draw For A Cure. The benefit is there to raise money for the American Cancer foundation society, in hopes to get closer to a cure. I will be drawing portraits for donations, and all the profits will go to the society. This is an all day event in Jersey and will feature bands and other activities.
